Travel Warning

Avoid travelling to Moscow, at least for the time being.

The Russian health officials are warning people in Moscow to stay inside and avoid physical exertion as smog from the worst wildfires in modern Russian history smothers the city. And the US State Department issued a travel alert for areas around Moscow through September 5.

As people in Russia put it, at this moment even breathing becomes a challenge. In recent days, the daytime temperatures in Moscow have remained close to 40C (104F) and the mortality rate has risen by 50% than that of last year. Some people are even wearing face masks indoors.

Domodedovo airport is seeing regular delays, red square is discoloured by the haze, and you are most likely to enjoy none of the sites in the choking smoke. If you are still determined to go, try flying to Novosibirsk and heading to east, or from Beijing or Vladivostok and moving west – but avoiding Moscow.

Why We Travel ?

Travel, no mater how close or far one goes, is in everyone’s DNA. Since the universe is in movement, we shall not keep completely calm. Travel may not always be in the way you expected it to be, but the experience of the unexpected is rightly the charm of travel.

**Travel is a journey to learn more about yourself. I would never know how far I could push myself to until I finally managed to stand on the top of Huanglong. I would never know I had a talent in learning language and I was so interested in Japanese until I made several Japnese friends on a trip.

**Travel makes you love the present more. After running from one airport to another, grabbing some food and sleeping on an alien and uncomfortable bed, I normally desperately need a vacation after vacation. You may ask, why do we still travel if we have to suffer so much? Because when I eventually lay on my bed, I would strongly feel that life is sooo cool to be back home!

**Travel leads you to see new in the old. The same act of leaving food on the plate: in China, it’s a complimentary way to show the host have provided more than sufficient to eat, while in American, it’s a subtle insult indicating the food is not good enough to finish. And when you travel foreign, you start wondering where the train takes you to? Do you need to tip? – Your mind starts thinking differently.

It is true that travel is not always fun. But we travel because we need to, because distance and difference are the key indigents for creativity. When we back home, something about us has been changed, and that changes everything.

Best food in Singapore I

Filed under: Cuisine Special, Uncategorized — Tags: , — maggie @ 2:51 am

This articles is dedicated to Anita X…Thanks for all your help with our blog.

One of the best things about Singapore, undoubtedly, is the food. And almost every Singaporean is an expert in this area. It is said that one of their amusements is to drive around with friends and discover good food and new places to eat. Each time can be intimidating or ecstatic.

Because of its unsupassed diversity, it’s impossible to include everything. Below is my collection of deserts that are common yet tasty in SG. If anyone get a recommendation, do email me, so we can share more here.

**Steamed Egg Custard with Ginger Juice**

Favourite! The Egg is covered with a silky smooth custard that warms your stomach with a sweet and slightly spicy flavor. After you broke the clothes, the snow white steamed egg will come out. Its not that sweet but has a strong egg flavor.  Also, if you like something creative, you can have **The Coffe Flavored Steamed Milk Eggs &  **Steamed Milk Eggs with Red Beans

**Mango Sago with Pomelo**

Mango Sago is easy to find in SG, but not many has Pomelo inside. The Pomelo meat inside the mango sago enhances the feeling of eating it. The slight sour of Pomelo along with the strong sweet taste of mango, hence, you will not be sick of too much sweet. If you are lucky enough, you may find their mango is fresh and juice and the sago has a Q feeling when chewing it, like the black pearls in bubble tea. If you add in icecream, it will be Superb!

 **Papaya Boiled in Fresh Milk**

It’s pretty awesome when served hot. The fruit is boiled in the milk to the point that they are pretty soft and basically breaks apart in the mouth, coupled with the nice aroma of hot milk. But if you don’t like the flavor of papaya, you may not enjoy that much.
