Climate of Vietnam
The climate of Vietnam varies from region to region. Though the entire country lies in the tropics and subtropics, local conditions vary from frosty winters in the far northern hills to year-round, subequatorial warmth in the Mekong Delta. When to Go
In the north mountainous area, frosts and occasional snow are quite common, while in the south, temperatures may climb to 40°C during the dry season.
Take all into consideration, months of April, May or October is the best time to visit north part, and November to February is dry and cooler for south.
From July to November, unpredictable typhoons become frequent visitors to the central and northern Vietnam, which can ruin the spirits of even the most enthusiastic travellers. But it usually gets pretty crowded during the peak season (November to March and July to August). Nevertheless, prices peak comes over the Christmas and New York period. And May, June and September are comparatively quiet months, and you are most likely not to share the sites with the masses.
Some travellers like to join big events, such as Vietnamese New Year, which falls in late January or early February. It's a fantastic idea in fancy, but never in reality, as the whole country is on the move and prices rise dramatically. Traffic becomes nuisance and most shops and sites are close at that period.
