Its capital is Stockholm, which is also the largest city in the country.

In 17th century, Sweden largely expanded its territories and formed the Swedish Empire – one of the great powers of Europe. Yet, most of the conquered territories were lost during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Today, Sweden becomes a highly developed economy. The growing population of immigration in recent years has also contributed spark and variety to its culture. Urban center like Stockholm and Malmo consistently churn out artefacts for an international audience (think IKEA, H&M, Absolut Vodka). The Island of Gotland, lying roughly equidistant between Sweden and Latvia, is Sweden as much richly historical area but also has a hip party vibe.
