Picture choosen by: MissAdministrator . The Singapore Zoo The Singapore Zoo (Former Singapore Zoological Gardens) is acclaimed as one of the world's most spectacular zoos. The use of natural barriers like streams, rock walls and vegetation to separate animals from visitors enhances the "open" zoo concept. Spreading over 28 hectares, it is home to over 3,600 mammals, birds and reptiles, including rare and endangered species. The Zoo's orang utan breeding programme has created a large community of these gentle, endangered species.

Singapore Zoo can be ranked among the top zoos of the world. The animals are housed in beautifully landscaped enclosures which look very much like their nature habitats. The Singapore Zoo follows a model of the “open zoo” concept; hence, you would not see animals locked up in their oppressive cages.

The Singapore Zoo guarantees an entire afternoon of fun exploring the animals in their various naturally landscaped enclosures. The zoo is suitable even for young children as it has a children corner with miniature horses, guinea pigs, sheep that can be torched and fed.

Do remember to collect the map and the animal shows/ feeding times at the ticketing booth. You won't want to miss it!
