NEW ZEALAND TRAVEL GUIDE - GENERAL INFORMATION

World Travel Guide Oceania New Zealand General Information Picture choosen by: Mrs.Rosy Black New Zealand Overview New Zealand, whose name in Maori Language is Aotearoa, commonly translated as “The Land of the Long White Cloud”.

It located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, consisting of two main landmasses – the North Island and the South Island, and a great number of smaller islands. About 2,000 km southeast from Australia, its closest neighbors are New Caledonia, Fiji and Tonga. Due to its long isolation, New Zealand developed a distinctive colony of living things, aside from its impressive Maori culture.

Maori, the largest minority, along with Asians and non-Maori Polynesians are significant minority groups in New Zealand, but English is most commonly spoken within this country.

Though small, remote and thinly populated, New Zealand punches well above its weight with its outlandish scenery, fabulous festivals, superb food and wine, and magical outdoor experiences. 2007 alone, more than 2 million visitors tramped, wheeled, wined and dined across the country, thus a serious environmental damage was brought about. In response, the New Zealand has carried out all measures, including raise the cost for travelers, to avoid overcrowding and minimize the negative effect.

That's the contemporary New Zealand. And you're going to have an awesome trip with rich memories of rampaging outdoor activities to world-class food, beverage, and chilled-out locals. But your most sparkling recollections will lose the shine in front of its natural grandness.
