Things to Do in Edmonton Drama and Music
Edmonton has a vibrant performing arts community with recognized accomplishments in live theatre and music. The Winspear or Francis Winspear Centre for Music, located in the central area, is a new concert hall with stellar acoustics. There is also the Citadel Theatre has hosted major live theatre performances for over forty years.
South Central area hosts the theatre district with a number of venues and the Jubilee Auditorium, a large concert hall. The west end has two dinner theatres, Jubilation’s and Mayfield.

Recreation
The river valley and Mill Creek area have an extensive network of trails that are good for outdoor activities, such as walking, biking and cross-country skiing. There is a variety of bike shops, including a non-profit bicycle co-op. you are able to drop by their workshop and wrench your bike for a cheap price. Mechanics are around to answer your questions. Bike maps are available free at many places, such as City Hall and the University as well as most bike shops.
Edmonton has small ski hills in or near the city, this includes Edmonton Ski, Sunridge Ski Area and Snow Valley. Natural and artificial snow covers their slopes from early winter to early spring.

Golf
The City of Edmonton operates three public courses: Victoria (central), Riverside (south) and the par-three Rundle Park (north). There are many other public, semi-private and private courses are located within or near the city.


Major events and festivals
Edmonton, known as “Canada’s Festival City”, holds many regular festivals and special events during the spring and summer months. Some festivals include:

• The Works – an arts festival featuring new works of painting, drawing, sculpture and many more.

• The Whyte Ave Artwalk – lets viewers stroll the avenue looking at local art.

• Fringe Theater Fest – the largest Fringe Theatre Fest in the Americas, and the second largest in the world. They offer hundreds of unique dramas in a single collection of venues near Whyte Avenue.

• Canoe Fest – stories told about morals and history.

• Symphony Under the Sky – fine music for the great outdoors.

• The Folk Fest – a very large festival where great musicians play folk music.
Cultural festivals:

• Heritage Days – involves fod, dance and local ornaments from many different cultures.

• Edmonton Cariwest – a carribean festival that takes over downtown with colorful dances.

• Gay Pride – a large festival that closes Jasper Ave for people to be proud of gay rights.

Food festivals:

• Heritage Days – hosts food from all kinds of countries.

• Taste of Edmonton – has food from Edmonton’s best restaurants collaborated in one little place in downtown.
