Picture choosen by: Mrs.elegant Wang Andorra Currency Andorra's currency is the Euro (€), which is divided into 100 cents and available in notes (500€, 200€, 100€, 50€, 20€, 10€, 5€), and coins (2€, 1€, 50 cents, 20 cents, 10 cents, 5 cents 2 cents and 1 cent).

The exchange rate is unpredictable and fluctuates regularly, although the Euro is considered one of the strongest currencies worldwide, buying between US$1.25 and US$1.43 in the first half of 2009.

ATM's and electronic banking facilitiesare widely available in Andorra La Vella, although less prevalent in the smaller towns and villages, unless there is a major ski or spa resort. Major credit cards are accepted in most stores, hotels, restaurants and service stations, and can be used to withdraw cash at ATM's provided you have a PIN for the card. Credit card and currency conversion fees will vary depending on your banking institution, so seek advice from you bank before travelling on the most economical way to access cash. Money can be exchanged at bureaux de change and major hotels, but banks give the best rates. Traveller's cheques can be exchanged at banks and post offices, but should be in Euros to avoid additional charges.

Andorra has no official VAT (value added tax) like neighboring Spain and France.

There are limited duties on some imported goods and some small taxes on other goods and services, although these charges are only around 4% which is already included in the ticketed or advertised price. Andorra has a reputation for great shopping due to limited or no duties on products, especially tobacco, alcohol and fuel.
