Saladaeng Colonnade started out as a private residence, long before service apartments existed in Thailand. In fact in the 1950 is there were every few hotels in the Siamese capital, and almost no apartments in Bangkok. Travel to Thailand was still a novelty and hotels were limited to a few near the river and budget and business accommodation in Chinatown.
