Stayed at the Heavitree Gap resort for three days while in Alice Springs. The hotel itself is outside of the city center, so be aware that you will need to either take a taxi (around $10US) to the center or the hotel's shuttle, if it is running. My husband and I walked it and it took 40 minutes, and we were walking fast. The hotel itself is very picturesque, set right up against the mountain range. The room was spacious and clean. There is a coin laundry available and a restaurant is on-site, but doesn't serve all meals year-round. There is also a grocery store on the property. We never had a problem while staying here...rooms were very quiet and the reception staff was very helpful. Last time, my friends had stayed in Desert Palms Resort, which was a nightmare as she said. But staffs here is friendly and helpful...so maybe you can give this place a shot.
